Adidas Pure Motion Special

The 2009-2010 season saw Adidas revamp their basketball line up with two signature releases – the TS Supernatural Creator and Commander.  Reviving and updating the “Feet You Wear” technology which started with the EQT Top Ten 2000 and most prominently the KB8 (Crazy 8), Pure Motion was introduced.  What followed were arguably the two best performers of the season, building a platform for the 2010-2011 line up.  Based around all around performance on the court, Pure Motion brings balance, responsiveness, and exceptional court feel.  One of the most important performance technologies to come along in the basketball shoe industry, we pay tribute with a countdown of the top Pure Motion equipped shoes in this Time Walk special.

Equipped with a full Pure Motion pod set up, the TS Heat Check excels in light weight performance with a very low profile for a natural feel on the court.  A unique lace holder system not only holds the laces, but also gives an alternative option for the player.

Featured prominently on the NBA courts last season is the light weight Adidas adiZero™ Infiltrate.  A three pod set up for this performer fits in with fluid play.  Comfort and support is added with the GEOFIT® system around the collar.

Making a splash All-Star weekend 2011, the Adidas adiPure hit the courts in a number for bright color schemes.  Utilizing a full pod set up, the adiPure, much like the TS Heat Check, has a low natural court feel, combining with a full length adiPRENE®+ in the forefoot for comfort.  The adiPure is definitely one of the most comfortable Pure Motion performers on the list.

A hybrid/combination of the adiZero™ Infiltrate and the Pro Model 2010, the Pro Madness was released in time for March Madness.  Light weight and comfortable, the three pod set up sits close to the court.  The light weight and flexible upper contrast the tough shell toe box to create a stable, yet fluid court performer.

5 – Adidas Pro Model 2010

The standard in the Adidas Basketball catalog, the Pro Model 2010 is consistent on the court.  With a Pure Motion set up matching the adiZero™ Infiltrate and Pro Madness, the Pro Model 2010 is a fit for any style of play.  A leather upper and shell toe box bring stability, while the overall thick build adds comfort.  Those looking for a Pure Motion package with good comfort and stabilty can look no further than the Pro Model 2010.

Dwight Howard finally received his signature shoe, appropriately named the BEAST Commander.  Built like a tank, a full Pure Motion pod set up is necessary for intense play in the post.  A Torsion System and sturdy build solidify this very balanced performer.  And although it was made with a big man in mind, the Beast Commander is versatile enough for players of all styles.

Following up the adiZero™ Rose 1, the 2011 All-Star game marked a transition to the 1.5.  Like the Rose 1, the 1.5 features a Sprint Frame chassis, Sprint Skin upper, and three Pure Motion pods at the forefoot.  Light weight and very low to the court, the 1.5 takes full advantage of the Pure Motion for fast, responsive, and comfortable play.

2 – Adidas TS Supernatural Commander and Creator

The shoes that started it all – the Commander for the big man and the Creator for the quick/swing man.  Combining comfort, responsiveness, balance, and great court feel, these two performers are two of the best basketball shoes released within the past 20 years.  Both feature a full Pure Motion set up with a full length adiPRENE®+ for comfort and the TORSION system for mid foot stability.  For the quicker player, the Creator features a shroud covering for the sleek and stealth style.  During his rookie season, Derrick Rose helped to show what these can do on the court.  Standing next to the Creator, the Commander stands tall with high ankle support.  The Adidas three strip logo serves as mid foot straps for lockdown.  A testament to great design, these two have virtually no draw backs in any performance category.

Last season, Adidas introduced the adiZero™ Rose line with a bang.  Three pods at the forefoot, a Sprint Frame for stability, a detached GEOFIT® ankle support system, and a Sprint Skin upper, the Rose 1 is build for speed.  An extremely low court profile works perfectly with the Pure Motion for aggressive, fast, and balanced play.  The adiZero™ Rose 1 is the quintessential Derrick Rose shoe, embodying his play style in all aspects.

The adidas Crazy Light boasted the lightest curb weight of a basketball sneaker in history. What do you suppose the ‘Crazy Cool’ is good for? adidas Basketball’s latest model actually features a tweaked application of one of its older technologies known as ClimaCool; the Crazy Cool features a 360-degree wrapping of the ClimaCool venting system for optimal cool-down support (a huge plus for the sweaty-footed ballers), so paired with the EVA midsole and the trademark Torsion System, the adidas Crazy Cool performs at a high level without compromise. Speaking on the design of the shoe – the first thought that comes to mind is 1990′s era training/turf shoe, given by the mid-cut and the aggressive styling on the midsole. Two colorways of Black/Red and Light Grey/Orange are now available  on the  for $95 a pair, so check out the detailed angles below and let us know what you think of this new model.

Kick-off: Nike Aqua Socks vs Adidas Boat CC

Adidas Boat CC vs Nike Aqua Socks Classic

Adidas Boat CC vs Nike Aqua Socks Classic

When you’re looking for a good training shoe.. you know, for running, for hitting the gym, for chilling.. there’s nothing better than the adidas Boat CC and the Nike Aqua Socks.

Aqua Socks?!? Isn’t that something you wear when you’re at a swimming pool?

Yes. But that’s not just it.

The Nike Aqua Socks is just so light, so fit, and so wearable that you can wear it like a slip-on. No laces, just good ol’ fitted spandex-like material.

The Adidas Boat CC though can give you more for just a couple more bucks.

Its 360 degrees Climacool and watergrip soles and a more durable and stylish material would make you favor the Boat CC.

The Boat CC is selling for about SG$70(?) as compared to the Aqua Socks SG$40 retail price. Which would make you want to think how overpriced Nike products are.

You can find the Aqua Socks Classic selling at World of Sports (if you still can coz they’re clearing their stocks of it now). The Boat CC is just a new release at Adidas retail stores.

Winner: Adidas Boat CC

Now if only And1 will re-release their ToChillins.

Nike Zvezdochka 02

So Jamie O'Shea from (former) Juxtapose Magazine / (current) Supertouch fame invited me up to the Nike Campus in Portland Oregon to be exposed to Nike culture and other things I can't discuss in detail. Jamie and I then met with Nike President Mark Parker... chatted for about 45 minutes and showed him my work/process. We talked about an array of things... including the co-lab between Nike and Marc Newson... the Nike Zvezdochka, an edition of 140 pairs of shoes, inspired by looking at pictures of astronauts who jumped with special socks on the walls of their space ships for exercise. The name Zvezdochka was inspired by the fifth Russian dog in space. Anyway... Fedex buzzed by the studio today with a package from Mark Parker. He sent me a pair of the shoes (black shells), and 8 pairs of colored replacement socks. Hooked up ! See you in outer space !

Jeremy Wariner is less than three weeks from defending his world title, which he defended in Osaka in August 2007. Now, with adidas, Wariner is launching a new training shoe, the Ambition PowerBounce. Here are the particulars on the shoe and some pictures as well. (And yes, we will be covering all of Jeremys' racing in Berlin!)

adidas Ambition PowerBounce

Jeremy Wariner launches Ambition PowerBounce ahead of

World Championships’ title defense in Berlin

Herzogenaurach, August 2009 – adidas PowerBounce jumps to a whole new level this Fall/Winter09 with the introduction of the Ambition PB designed with 400m World Champion Jeremy Wariner.

Bounce technology turns every last bit of energy into momentum to enable longer workouts with more fun and less effort. The Ambition PB features new two-stage Bounce structures combining stability frames with elastic center bars in a second colorway. This energized cushioning system is built full length into the shoe plate as requested by Jeremy Wariner, a true fan of this unique footwear technology.

The Ambition PB colorway features a black lycra upper with Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) detailing strips to complement the Techfit apparel worn by Jeremy Wariner both in competition and training. The metallic three stripes reflect the Texan’s signature accessory, his sunglasses. A vibrant red line runs through the centre bars of the Ambition PB and on to the outsole which is made from adiWEAR®, a durable and non marking rubber designed to resist against wear and tear.

Jeremy Wariner says, “I’ve been using Bounce technology for over 2 years now and find it provides me with the best possible energy return and cushioning during my training sessions. Ambition PB takes Bounce to a new level. The black, red and metallic colorway is really exciting and audacious. I’m looking forward to wearing these both on and off the track this Fall.”

Ambition PB is currently available from adidas Sport Performance stores and select retailers worldwide at a recommended retail price of $130. It is also available online at www.autobotshop.com

Eternal Air Force One

Nike Air Force One

Retro is a big project and is inseparable with trends.

The trend is ever-changing. Today's stuff may be obsolete tomorrow, and things of the past may be popular again today. History is such a tortuous back and forth forward.

NIKE AIR FORCE 1, is neither the most acclaimed paid of shoes in the history, nor is today's most popular sneaker, but as an essential retro model, to understand the NIKE AIR FORCE 1 is one of the most basic course.

AIR FORCE 1, produced in 1983, is the first NIKE basketball shoes which have air sole technology. And it was the year's flagship product at that year..

Porsche is known to have some of the best engineers in the business, constantly churning out new technologies for their vehicles. But, as we've often said – irking Porschephile commenters in the process – their designers always seem to be focusing on something else, which could go a long way towards explaining why every successive 911 iteration looks largely the same as the one it replaces. So, what is Porsche Design so busy with? Why, apparel, of course! Now we know that Porsche Design is not the same group of designers responsible for the cars, but it sure gets you thinking when the merchandising division comes up with new designs faster than the car folks.

Case in point: the latest Adidas collection from Porsche Design, marking four years of collaboration with Adidas. With the fashion industry already gearing up for the Fall/Winter seasons, Adidas and Porsche have come out with their latest cold-weather gear. Among the items in the new collection are the Primaloft stuffed vest, messenger bag, Tennis shoes, driving shoes and jump rope shown above – perfect for the dash from your Cayenne into the gym. Press release after the jump.

Adidas TS Bounce Commander: Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan & Dwight Howard PEs

Throughout our Kicks On Court, the Adidas big men (Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan and Dwight Howard) have been lacing up the Adidas TS Commander night in and night out. However, with the recent release of Adidas latest basketball sneaker, the TS Bounce Commander, expect to see the three towers switch it up for once.

The major difference between the original Commander and the Bounce Commander is found in the performance of the shoe. Using a midsole formation called BOUNCE, this sneaker is able to propel your step through a series of stretching and springing.

As far as the outer design of the sneaker, each players sneaker features the colorway of his respective team. Click the jump to view detailed photos of each sneaker. Also, after the jump watch Dwight Howard as he performance tests the Adidas TS Bounce Commander. Via Freshness.
